Just Jonathan: Election election, go away!

Jonathan Meyer

The election has come and gone and oh boy am I thankful. Now typically I like to write something entertaining or at the very least a bit of food for thought, but today I am going to complain and wish certain things good riddance.

Goodbye endless ads! I will not miss the way you draw the fun out of everything and create a divide no matter what I am watching.

So-long political talks at dinner, I won’t miss the way you pit me against my friends.

Welcome back newspaper stories that are about literally anything other than the election!

Goodbye being ultra careful of keeping my political beliefs a secret in Tama County, come check me out in Waverly and you’ll get a pretty good sense!

I enjoy a bit of political discourse, but believe me, I am tired. From working in print media and being a young person with an active online presence, I am going to take a small break from all this craziness.

Regardless, serving the people from my home is one of the biggest honors of my life. Congratulations to all the winners, losers, and people who voted. No matter how annoying, participating in the American democratic experiment is our duty as citizens.

Until the next election and until next week, I’m Just Jonathan.
