You’ll Figure It Out: Kudos

John Sheda
Ya know, every once in a while, we should stop for a few minutes and say “Thank-You” or “Kudos” to YOU. Yes, you! When was the last time YOU were thanked and appreciated for a job well done. Heck, you probably get up early every day, work all day long, come home tired, cook supper, read a story or two to your kids, fix one of their toys, help them study a little bit, kiss your spouse, get ready for bed and plan on doing the same thing all over again….. tomorrow.
So Here’s Kudos to you:
Our snow plowers for a job well done. Excellent in fact from my point of view. Year in and year out you all do a terrific job. Kudos.
Our Mayor & City Council. You may or may not like the job their doing but that’s beside the point. They’re doing their best. Kudos.
Our hospital people. Don’t we have one of the nicest “small town” hospitals in all the world. I know the world’s a big place but they certainly treat me pretty well.
Our law enforcement people. It’s been a fairly long time since I’ve gotten a ticket so thank you for that. But you’re the first people we call when trouble’s brewing.
Everyone in our education system. From teachers to custodians to coaches, administrators and the many volunteers that help keep everything running so smoothly for our kids. You do make a difference.
Our retailers and business owners. Everything we need, we can get right inside our city limits.
Those “Volunteer” organizations. soup suppers, fund raiser, raffles and all the other things you help out with to make our lives a little bit easier.
Oh, by the way, if you’re ever dealing with stress or tough times, go to a first-year Little League baseball or softball game. Those kids will certainly bring a smile & maybe some laughter to you. My daughters used to love picking flowers out in center field as the game was in progress and then giving them to their mom right during the inning. Ya gotta smile!!
But mostly, Kudos to you for getting up each and every morning, going to work without much fanfare and doing your bit to raise your family. You are the reason “small town” Iowa works so well together. KUDOS TO YOU ALL! jsheda@indytel.com or give me a call at 319.327.4640. Be blest all day long.
