The South Tama Eighth Lady Trojans hosted Center Point-Urbana on September 7, 2017, at the Middle School gym. The team played well overall. The girls battled a few nerves but settled in to play great as a team to begin their first matches of the season.

The A Team swept CPU in 3 sets scoring 21-15, 21-12, and 15-13. Starters for this team were Breanna Riha, Laurel Upah, Adriana Cervantes, Kailee Meek, Lauren Veit, and Autumn Bartling. Gracie Vest rounded out the team in serving and defense. Stats for the A Team: Ace serves – Riha 5, Meek and Vest 1. Blocks – Riha, Cervantes, and Upah 1 each. Kills – Meek 2, and Riha and Upah 1. Assists – Riha 2, Upah and Veit 1.

The B Team won their match 21-9, 21-16, and 14-16. Playing for the B Team were Riha, Upah, Shelby Graham, Meek, Cervantes, Vest, Carlie Herdlicka, Missy Smith, Bartling, and Abigail Smiley. Ace servers for the night were Vest 5, Smiley 4, Herdlicka 3, Riha 2, Meek and Upah 2 each. Assists – Cervantes 1, and Kills – Herdlicka 1.

The C Team lost their first set in a close score of 19-21 but rallied back to take their match 21-11 and 15-13. The team of Herdlicka, Smith, Jalyssa Rozevink, Graham, Bartling, Smiley, Kalee Gomez, Vest, and Katrina Garcia. Aces – Gomez and Smiley 5, Rozevink and Vest 2, Smith, Graham and Herdlicka 1. Blocks – Smith and Bartling 1.

The Eighth Lady Trojans travel to Independence and Williamsburg next week.
